Telephones can be termed as one of the greatest gifts of modern technology. Its effectiveness cannot be undermined. It has indeed brought about a revolution in the way communication was carried out. Imagine the day when telephones were not invented. Imagine the difficulty that one used to undergo before a piece of information can be delivered.

It has not been long when people relied on letters to share their feelings or send a piece of information. And it was days before one actually received the letters. The Sound of music that our friendly old telephone produced has always been associated with the Tring Tring…! We have grown with the telephone, shared many emotions with its ringing music. And now, even to this day, though technological developments have made many break throughs into our life, yet some of us proudly declare ourselves as the possessor of the telephone.

Though the sound of the telephone may be music to some ears, the loud ring can be a cause of irritation for some others. It can wake a person from sound sleep and can also cause a lot of disturbance when you need absolute silence. But now such instances are a thing of past.

About the NANPA

History

The North American Numbering Plan Association – NANPA – has held the responsibility as coordinating area code relief planning in the United States, as well as forecasting data, in addition to assigning North American numbering plan resources since 1997.

NeuStar – which was Lockheed Martin IMS at the time – was selected by the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) in order to fulfill NANPA duties after a competitive bidding process. NeuStar was selected for a five-year term, which was renewed for another five years at the beginning of July in 2003.
