One enterprise focused telephone manufacturer is Toshiba, a corporation that has a diverse background and a history spanning over a century.
Started in 1875, by founder Hisashige Tanaka, the company became Japan’s first manufacture of telegraphic equipment. As the company began to grow and diversify itself, it became the corporation we know today after the merging of two companies in 1939. Shibaura Seisakusho and Tokyo Denki created a new company called Tokyo Shibaura Denki, that later was nicknamed Toshiba. This became the official name in 1984.
