DSL Broadband Access Technology

DSL broadband technology supplies significantly faster data transfer speeds than dial-up Internet, without a huge investment. It is a cost effective and convenient permanent connection.

What is DSL Broadband Technology?

Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) is a proven standard ‘always on’ alternative to Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) and other leased line options, with affordable installation and service costs. Simply installing DSL on your existing phone line and purchasing a DSL modem/router allows businesses of all sizes to access high speed broadband at a relatively low cost.

When implementing video conferencing capabilty many businesses are more focused on the make-up of the video suite itself…..and assume that DSL bandwidth is sufficient for their network backbone. Whether this be an existing network or intended new install…..assuming that DSL is sufficient to support your requirements may be shortsighted. Beware, there’s more out there to consider.

Before “jumping to conclusions” it’s important to consider all of your options….and how each may best (or not) support your video conferencing needs.

When you connect to the Internet, you might connect through a regular modem (dial-up), through a local-area network (LAN) connection in your office, through a cable modem (Cable Internet) or through a Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) connection.

For me DSL connection is the most cost-effective solution that home based and small business office can leverage to grow a business. It is not only widely available but its reliability and high-speed capability is what it makes one of the most preferred access service.

Does your connection crawl? I bet it does buddy, just try these few simple tweaks, lets get you fixed today.
The following tweaks and modifications are the ones I personally perform to my Cable connection after fresh installing windows.

Note-This Guide works with DSL and Cable Connections!

The first thing I like to do is run over to Control Panel > Network Connections and “right click” Local Area Connection (Your primary connection)
Then I Uncheck:
“Client for Microsoft Networks”
“File and Printer Sharing For Microsoft Networks”
“QoS Packet Scheduler”

If you are just going to opt for one of those free broadband schemes then be warned. Most of such schemes are either fraudsters or you will have to settle for disturbing advertisements, low bandwidth, and unreliable connection or in extreme cases you may also be asked to give out very personal information like your credit card numbers etc.

And why would you do all this when you can simply get a very good deal from the many leading DSL service providers at a low cost and avail their special discounts and cheap deals.

Getting online can open up a whole world of information and fun that those who haven’t explored the Web can’t even begin to imagine. Deciding how exactly to get online, however, can be a bit of a trick. Many Internet users choose to go with DSL. Offering fast connections and typically reasonable pricing, DSL Internet service providers tend to win hands down over regular dial up options.

Finding the right DSL Internet service providers will take a little research. What is available as far as service providers goes will depend a whole lot on the geographical area in question. Not all areas have DSL, although this is changing rapidly.
