Most people don’t normally associate golf with GPS technology, but due to the recent wave of technological advancements, it’s is finally here, and the latest golf GPS devices are riding this wave. The basics behind this new GPS technology are no different than any of the other fields that benefit from the GPS technological advancements.

It is all about knowing where you are; in the game golf this translates into discovering where you are, where your ball is, and where do you want your ball to go. Golf GPS devices are handheld and they are used as a guide for distance and yardage to the hole, more than anything else.

Basically, golfers use range finders to track the distance from the ball to the hole or any other desired location. They then select the club that they will need to get the golf ball to that location. For some golfer, these devices take a lot of the mystery out of the game. However most of golfers that are using this technology, do so to help perfect their individuals shots.

Golfers that use a range finder aren’t cheating they are just using all of the resources that are available to them to conquer golf course, and get ahead. However there are a few golfers that think that using a range finder is the highest form of cheating.

Regardless of what you think about using a GPS system as a range finder out on the golf course, this technology is simply magnificent to behold. With each passing day these devices are becoming more and more sophisticated. They offer an abundance of features that can calculate everything from wind resistance, to the downward slope of the green.

They come equipped with a number of features that turn this little device into a monster machine that serves as the ultimate range finder. However there is a price to be paid for this little device, and for some golfers that price is the honor that they feel after they have played a perfect game of golf.

Many of the golfers that take advantage of this technology, don’t feel that there is anything wrong with using this device when they are playing golf, because it doesn’t affect their game. Regardless of what anyone else believes, it still takes human power to drive the golf ball to the hole. Knowing the distance and the other variables of the course, merely gives them additional information that they might not have concerning the course they are playing. It won’t improve you drive, correct your slice, or improve your putting skills. This device dose nothing what so ever to improve your personal golfing skills, so therefore it isn’t cheating.
